This patient support community is for discussions relating to urology issues, benign prostate disease, penis curvature, cystisis, kidney stones, pediatric urology, prostate, sexual dysfunction, urinary tract infections, and urological cancers.
The pain depends a lot on the skill of the urologist but also is different from patient to patient.
I have had numerous cystos with different sensations.
Now a days the use of a flexible scope is used more and more and is far less painfull than the straight scope.
You can also ask your urologist for sedation other than local freezing. If you do so you will need someone to be there with you as you should not travel alone after an aneastetic.
Try to relax as much as possible as this will help with the cystoscopy, being tense will cause more discomfort. I know that this might be hard to relax when you don't know what to expect.
I will have antoher cysto in September and I don't dread the idea.
I hope that all goes well with you. I too have had one UTI after the other. They think that this is due to me having a neurogenic bladder.
