I am 54, approximately 6 months ago I experienced pain during erection, no change in sexual function. There was no trauma involved. About 3-4 months ago the pain subsided, however I now notice an upward bend in my penis. The bend being just before the head, typical to Peyronies illustrations. Sexual function is diminished. All other functions are fine. I do not notice any hardening of tissue. Is this erectile disfunction or peyronies? Combination? Is Verapamil a viable solution. Viagra, etc. I understand these symtoms (symptoms) sometimes correct with time.

Peyronie's disease is a possibility.  An ultrasound would be a reasonable test to evaluate for this.

If present, there are various treatment options.  Vitamin E supplementation and para-aminobenzoate tablets (B- complex substance) may be taken for several months. Chemical agents such as a calcium channel-blocker (e.g., verapamil), an enzyme that breaks down connective tissue (collagenase), and steroids (e.g., cortisone) may be injected into plaque or delivered by iontophoresis can all be considered.

Erectile dysfunction typically does not cause pain during erection.  I would ensure there isn't any further disease present before attributing the symptoms to this.

I would consider a referral to a urologist.
