discoloration of semen

beginning about 3 weeks ago i noticed a tingling sensation at the root of my penis after urination.  shortly afterward, it graduated to a very mild burning which has not grown any further in intensity.  post-ejaculation, the sensation worsens briefly but not unbearably so.  well, yesterday i couldn't help noticing the brownish discoloration of my semen which appeared again tonight.  i'm also experiencing some mild pain in my lower back.  all this is about 60 days after trying anal sex with my girlfriend which is a plausible cause, i suspect.  a UTI or a prostate infection i guess optomistically?  what's the rate of occurance for these conditions in otherwise healthy 24 year old males?

Several population-based cross-sectional surveys and series of clinical data from outpatient visits have shown that the prevalence of prostatitis symptoms is up to 25%.  Any type of burning or discomfort on urination should be looked into for any type of infection.  

A reasonable first test would be a urinalysis which can look for bacterial infection.  Tests for STDs such as gonorrhea and chalmydia can be considered via a GenProbe urethral swab.  

If those tests are negative, then prostatitis should be further looked into.  A prostate exam and/or transrectal ultrasound would be more comprehensive tests to look into this.  

If there is no clear infectious cause, then tests to evaluate the urinary tract with a cystoscopy can be considered.
