Hello
I have experienced an irritation in my prostate after ejactulation since I have been a teenager. It occurs once every so often, however its more frequent as I get older. The irritation has a duration of 30 minutes then goes away, its a buring sensation the prostate.
I experience this sometimes also after I go to the bathroom as well. I was on antibiotics for a month for unrelated infection a few years back, and didnt experience any burning sensation during the duration of taking the antibiotic(doxicycline) Could this be chronic bacterial prostatitus? Thanks for your help

Prostate infection can be considered, and can be difficult to diagnose and treat appropriately.
A transrectal ultrasound can image the prostate for abscess, and a prostatic massage can be done to evaluate for any fluid discharge. This fluid can be sent and evaluated to the lab for culture and analysis.
There are some cases of prostatitis that may require 4-12 months of antibiotics.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
