ejaculation & few drops

by gk69, Nov 18, 2008 07:56AM
I'm age 53 and I had an ejaculation, that felt normal as it started but then no semen came out except a few drops when I squeezed, then a bit more trickled out.  Then my testicles felt full for several hours. what's up with this?

Hi there,
It could be you had an episode of retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen goes into the bladder instead of leaving the penis during ejaculation.
During normal ejaculation, internal muscles, called spincters, close off the opening of the bladder to prevent semen from entering as it passes through the urethra. In retrograde ejaculation, the bladder opening doesn't close properly and some or all of the semen is allowed to enter the bladder instead of being ejected out the tip of the penis. As a result, semen mixes with urine in the bladder and leaves the body during normal urination without harming the bladder.
There are many causes of retrograde ejaculation. Do you have any prior medical conditions or are you on any medications? Please get back with details, I help you the best I can or refer you to an appropriate consultant.
Regards,
Dr Sylvester, MD

Thanks for the reply. I've had an enlarged benign prostate before. I take a daily prostate vitamin complex w/saw palmetto, zinc, lycopene & pumpkin seed. Also take Levothyroxine for slow thyroid and Simvastatin for cholestreol.  If this is my first episode of retrograde ejecaulation, what's the likelihood I'll have more?  will my ejaculations return to normal? how could I verify that's the problem and what's the remedy? thanks.
