epididymitis

Hello,

I am 28. I had a sexual intercorse with a sex worker a month back. I did use condom. After a week I started getting this pain in my epididymis. I went to the doctor and they did all the STD checks including the HIV DNA. All of them came negative. Apart from pain I didn't have any other issues like discharge or inflammation (at least wasn't visible outside). My physician put me on Doxycycline for 10days and that doesn't seemed to help. But using it got me side effects (heart burn, stomach upset).

I went back to him after 10days and he said it might not be the infection. So he prescribed Neproxen for 10days. They seemed to be working . I am done with the course 4 days back and now I am feeling the pain again. I saw a urologist and he thought everything is getting cleared up when I told him pain went down. But now I am feeling the pain again.

Worst part of all these is my body is feeling really weak. That is the most bothersome than the pain. I did get the ultrasound test also and it came out normal.

Any suggestions on what must be going on?

Thanks,
Sandy

Dr. Singh / sandy 1111 Same I was diagnosed with epididymitis (left testicle) a month ago but I’m not sexually active I was given levofloxacin for 10 days after that I was given naproxen for 5 days I felt better for 2 days after that it felt worse again. So dr. Gave me 14 days cyprofloxacin and 10 days naproxen. I’m about to finish both within the nxt 2 days: I dunno if I’m going to feel better after that or not but a week ago I’m starting to feel pain in my right testicle.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to recurrent or chronic epididymitis. The etiology of chronic or recurrent epididymitis can be associated with inflammatory, infectious, or obstructive factors but, in many cases, no identifiable etiology can be identified.

The most common medical therapies for chronic epididymitis are antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents; phytotherapy, anxiolytics, narcotic analgesics, acupuncture and injection therapy. But if none of them gives good results and symptoms persist then epididymectomy ay have to be performed.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
