high white blood cell count in urine, but no infection
i just had a recent urine sample that showed high white blood cells, but after it was sent to the lab, no infection was found. also, recently i have been on cipro (antibiotics) for two weeks, which makes it even more strange that i have a high while cell count. any ideas as to why my urine sample showed this? please let me know.
thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. There could be two possibilities of high white cell count but no infection in the urine sample. They are use of antibiotics prior to giving urine sample and the other is inflammation can happen without bacteria or any other organism manifesting only with high white cell count.

In certain patient’s personal products can cause irritation, especially in the urogenital region causing inflammation without infection.
Consult a urologist for further assistance.
Best.
