hydronephrosis/etc

by maoftri, Sep 17, 2007 12:49PM
Well, on July 1 st I woke up with left sided upper quad pain.  I could not even touch my upper side it hurt bad.  I told my self..lets see if this pain goes away well I waited for about 2 weeks and it was off and on.  So I went to my Dr. and he gave me anaprox then sent me for a bone scan which was negative.  Pain still there, this pain was really bad one day I ended up in the ER, I was told nothing was wrong, the only thing they found was a UTI, I was put on Bactrim for 2 weeks.  Still having pain, so I went for a CT of the chest and abdomial (abdominal) .  Well, on the CT they found a small cyst on my right kidney..all the pain is on the left, the right side is fine.  So now 3 weeks ago I went for a ultrasound of the kidneys...well, they called and told me I have left sided hydronephrosis also a medullary sponge kidney and echogenic renal pyramind all on the left side.....I have had a fever for 1 week straight, finally went away.  I have to urinate all the time...I quess my quess here is....why are we waiting to see what is going on with me....I am having a IVP tomorrow then the Urology office called and scheduled me for an appointment for Oct 19th, with all this said..should I be waiting to be seen? Or should I just see what this IVP shows...I need alittle help here.....Thanks

my wife suffers iwth the very same left flank pain.  she has been thru countless test, IVP's and even had an operation on her right kidney for a "congential" defect.  now, every night she sleeps on her left side, the flank pain is there for the first few hours of being awake, she takes pills prescribed for pain, and it goes away.  we still don't know why she is having this left flank pain.....can anyone suggest what we should do
