im in too much pain to pee

I have been experiencing this horribly painful sensation when i try to pee. I have to urinate really bad but when i start to go the pain starts even before any pe comes out. My question is what can happen if i hold my pee in to long. right now its 10:05 pm, and its to late to go to the doctors so i put a blanket that protects the bed from the pee just incase i wet the bed tonight.
I'm scared that i will get sick. thanks for your answers.

You really need to get into a urologist and have this checked out.  This could be caused by many things including infection BUT holding the urine in can make the situation worse.  Really this is nothing to play with go see your doctor today and try to get in with a urologist!

(This sounds really really bad but if you totally can not go and the pain is soo severe
until you get to the doctor, you can try filling the tub with water and urinating while in the tub.  Not the cleanest or best solutions however have had this recommended by a nurse when my bladder shut down!  Of course shower after ward and this is only a short term solution!)
