infection or more...no insurance yet

I am unemployed (and broke) but found insurance to cover me  that is going through November 1st, therefore I am worried about going to the doctor with this for fear of the "pre-existing condition clause".  Here goes.
Lately I have been having some burning after urination, but the urine looks normal.   I have also been having some pain during intercourse when the penetration is deep and on the right side.  today I started getting a pain right below and to the right of my belly button.  I would go to the doctor for a bladder infection but I guess I am worried that if I do and it's something more it won't be covered by my insurance.  Do you think I need to see a doctor right away for this?  Could it be something more serious?  I am pretty worried.  Oh! I am a 29 year old non smoker, well I smoked on occastion until a couple years ago.

any advice would be appreciated.

Burning during urination is never normal.  The most common cause would be an infection - either a UTI or an STD such as gonorrhea or chlamydia.  If you are a male, diseases such as prostatitis or epididymitis would also be considered.

If the tests for infection are negative, anatomical causes like polyps or strictures should be considered and evalated via a cystoscopy.

The first test I would consider would be a urinalysis and tests for STDs which are simple, inexpensive tests for diseases that are easily treated.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
