I had an MRI for my back and the radiologist noted a: "T2 bright cyst 10mm in dia. in lower pole of left kidney". My doctor said it's normal and should be of no concern but she ran blood work. results: Bili: 1.2 (been told before I have Gilbert's syndrome)
AST: 18; ALT: 21; BUN: 8; ALkaline phosphatase: 37;
Creatinine: 1.0 with a GFR of 66. Now my Dr. said my results were all normal and O.K. However, in doing research I see that with my creatinine at 1.0 and being a 38yr. old white female that makes my GFR 66 which is 2nd stage kidney disease. I am a little concerned about this, especially since for several years I feel something isn't right. I first thought it was my heart - mitral valve prolapse, apparently not enough to cause my symptoms which are: leg cramping at night, bottom of feet swollen in the morning, feeling like my legs are going to fall out from under me as I'm walking(but not like from light-headedness, seems more muscular) and the palms of my hands and bottom of feet and insides of my knees swell, get red and hot and itchy. These symptoms are not constant, they seem to come and go in phases but usually I get a run of all of them for awhile and then nothing for awhile. Should I be concerned and should I press this issue further with more testing? Thank you for your time and consideration.

A creatinine of 1.0 is normal. Assuming your albumin was normal (around 4), this corresponds to a GFR of about 75.
If there continues to be concern about the kidneys, an ultrasound as well as 24-hr urine tests can be considered for further evaluation.
It is unlikely the kidney cyst would affect kidney function.
These questions can be discussed with your personal physician.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
