kidney and gallbladder

Are your gallbladder and kidneys related.  I am going for an ultrasound  for gallbladder disease.  One of my symptoms is that my urine has a very strong smell.

I think I would tell your doctor because it could be kidney rather than gallbladder related.
Good luck with your appointment.

I was trying to think of why your doctor suspects a gallbladder problem if you have foul urine (kidney).

You might be having the test done to see if the bile duct is damaged.  If it is, then your kidneys will have to filter this out of the body--and this would be causing your symptoms.

Only your doctor will be able to tell you for sure.  I guess that is why you were asking if they were related or not.

I meant--they are Not related.

Gallbladder is basically a storage place.

Kidneys are active filters.

They are related.  Gallbladder: stores bile and concentrate. In short form, the gallbladder sends bile to the small intestines where the bile can emulsify fats.

Kidneys:  filter your blood and pull out the waste products.  Nephrons are the small filters in the kidneys--think of your sink filter--nephrons would be the charcoal.  The waste products exit the kidneys by tubules and end up in the bladder--you pass the impurities in your body as urine.

Hope this helps and all goes well with your test.
