kidney infection/pain after eating?

I've been treated for kidney infections twice during the past year after never having had a uti in my life (I'm 48.) My last infection was almost two months ago and my kidneys were tender for at least two weeks afterwards. I feel as if I'm healed yet when I eat a normal-sized meal (I'm typically a grazer), my flank area on both sides really aches. Restaurant meals seem worse---maybe because I eat more? This is not a gastrointestional problem for I have no constipation, diarrhea, indigestion or heartburn and a recent colonoscopy was normal. What might be causing this discomfort? Could my infection be lingering?

Thanks,
Charlotte
