lesions on the base

I need some help. 5 days ago I developed 3 little lesions at the base of my penis. They were all at the base of a hair in the pubic area. Then 3 days ago they started to increase in number and would move up to the pint that there were also lesions on the head of my penis. They dry up relatively quick and scab but when I take a shower the scab easily gets out. I am worried and don't know what this is. There are almost 20 of them already.  I am not sexually active outside a monogamous relationship.

Hi,

It is better not to use any irritant chemicals, such as hydrogen peroxide, on any open wounds where there is no layer of pus covering it.
If the pus is difficult to clear or there is a lot of ooze and debris, then peroxide can be used.

Any steroid preparation used for a bacterial or fungal infection has the potential to make it worse. So, you will have to avoid using hydrocortisone.

Herpes is caused by HSV and once the infection occurs, the virus can lie dormant for long periods of time before manifesting.

Doxycycline will cover most bacterial STIs and help prevent further infection of the open lesions.

Did your doctor take a swab from the lesions for culture?

Just maintain hygiene, but be gentle so as to not abrade the healing areas.
You can also start taking vitamin C to help with the healing.

Thank you so much for your reply. No there was no pain when they first appeared and they would not blister. It was just like an infection at the hair follicles. But i would keep on putting hydrogen peroxide and hydrocortizone and I think I made it worse by spreading it. I am worried now thinking that it is an STD because I have had the same parter fro 3 years and to my knowledge she has not had any other partners also. My doctor just perscribed me DOXYCYCLINE and I am on the 1st day and I don't know what this is supposed to do

Hi,

Did you have any pain at the time the lesions appeared?
Did the lesions you described appear as blisters first and then scab over?

Multiple lesions that scab over are indicative of sexually transmitted infections, specifically genital herpes, which is caused by HSV.

You will need to see your physician for a complete and definitive evaluation of the problem
You will be advised a blood test and may also be advised a culture to confirm presence of the herpes virus.

Meanwhile, practice safe sex with your sexual partner(s).

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
