low creatinine levels

What would low creatinine levels (.5) indicate?  I understand high is not good - is low not good?  Just curious if I need to make nutritional adjustments.
  thank you.

Dear C Hudson,
Creatinine is a product of your body’s muscle mass.  It is cleared by the kidney’s thus its used to determine renal function.  A rise in the creatinine reflects a decrease in renal function.  A level of 0.5 is not of concern.  It probably reflects your state of hydration at the time the blood was drawn.  In the correct clinical setting, however, a decreased creatinine may indicate muscle wasting.  This is usually seen in patients with chronic debilitating disease states such as cancer and extreme malnutrition.
