male urinary bleeding

My boyfriend wanted to know if a hernia could cause urinary bleeding? Also what may cause him to bleed while urinating?

Hi,
A hernia can’t cause the urinary bleeding and I’ll suggest your boyfriend to consult a urologist and undergo a detailed evaluation to look for the cause of the bleeding. One of the commonest causes for the same is stones in the urinary tract. He’ll likely need a urine analysis, ultrasound of the kidneys/bladder, CT-IVU and maybe cystoscopy to look for the source of bleeding. He should not delay this as the presence of blood in urine is definitely not normal. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
