hello, i'm a 25 year old male and about 2 months ago i started feeling an ache in my scrotum on the left side. I noticed that i had a small bb like mass near the back of my left testicle and the tubes on that side feel tender and a little bigger than the ones on the right which do not feel tender. I was wondering if i could possibly have an ifection a cyst or possibly worse. Also, it is sometimes hard to find where the mass is. Sometimes it is there and sometimes it is not. Recently after a shower i could feel the mass. I then got called into work for some overtime and later that evening when i took another shower, it was hard to find the mass. After a while i found it but it felt smaller than before. I'm going on vacation and i will see my doctor when i get back, but i was wondering if with what i am explaining here you could give me an idea of what my doctor might say when i go see him. thank you very much, your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

There are a variety of causes - such as a cyst, infection, hydrocele or varicocele. The best test at this point would be a scrotal ultrasound.
To evaluate for infection, I would test and analyze the urine. Tests for STDs such as gonorrhea or chlamydia can also be considered.
I would discuss the possibility of the ultrasound with your personal physician, or consider a urology referral.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
