numbness in legs/penis during sex

by rrob, Apr 14, 2006 12:00AM
I am a 26 year old male in a monogamous relationship. For the past month, I have began to experience numbness in my penis, legs, and upper midsection while having sex with my girlfriend. The numbness continues in these areas for about 20 minutes after we have stopped having sex. The numbness becomes even worse when there is any pressure placed on the areas listed above, specifically my legs and thighs.

Can you tell me what these symptoms might indicate? Do you have any recommendations? Thank you.

Compression of the nerves can be considered.  You can also consider metabolic diseases like diabetes, thyroid disorders, or vitamin B-12 deficiency.

A referral to a neurologist for electrodiagnostic testing (i.e. an EMG) as well as blood tests to rule out the disorders mentioned above can be considered.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
