ongoing problems

by Embarrassed175, May 23, 2008 11:14AM
hi,

Im a 33yo male without insurance. I'll try to be as brief as possible, but this is a bit complicated. I have for some time used a foreign object to stimulate my prostate rectally during masturbation. Earlier this year, about a week after one such instance, I had acute symptoms very much like prostatitis. (Though, i have never had blood in my urine, or semen, or painful ejaculation.) My main symptom was urgency to void bladder.
Since I had also had unprotected oral sex with a stranger about 3 days before these symptoms, I was tested via urethral swab for gono/chlam. those tests came back neg. While waiting for those results I was treated anyway for both std's. I did not inform the DR. of the anal play at this time as I was convinced it was an STD. No improvement was evident during the course of those antibiotics. No infections where detected in my urine sample either. A prostate exam showed no signs of enlargement.
All symptoms ceased about three weeks later. I felt fine.
     A month passed.
Not having put two and two together, and feeling good, I engaged once more in the anal play while masturbating.
Of course the symptoms made a comeback a few days later.
I was now tested for HSV and re-treated for gono./chlam. Again all tests normal. Blood panel normal. Urine normal. I was put on CIpro for one month. No improvement. Still did not inform DR. of anal play.
After Cipro failed, I went to a Urologist. Him I did tell about the anal play. He took my $300 and didn't even examine me. He said I'd  developed chronic prostatitis and that the inflammation would go away and I'd be fine. Just avoid anal play in the future.
It's been another month, and I'm not OK! Though I have only a few remaining symptoms, they don't seem to be going away. My symptoms now are as follows:
anal/rectal pain
cramping muscle pain in groin and back of thighs
twingy, scratchy, tingling in urethra (roughly center of shaft)
speckled, "black and tan" stools (formed and otherwise normal)

the object I had been using is made of wood, lives in a pretty humid area, and was rarely given a truly thorough cleaning beyond a rinse and wipe down.

Could this have nothing to do with my prostate? Could it be a fungus? Parasite? Bacteria living on the wood? Proctitis doesn't seem to fit with my symptoms. (No pain "during" movements. No Blood on stools.) I'm just afraid I've done something out-of-the-ordinary to myself that a doctor might miss for a more common diagnosis.

Hi,

This could be due to inflammation or infection of the prostate gland called prostatitis.

It would be advisable to get a complete clinical examination done by a certified physician and to rule out prostatitis.

You could read more about the condition at the following link -

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prostatitis/DS00341

Are you on any medications currently? Is your blood pressure in the normal range?

Let us know about how you are doing and if you need any other information.

Regards.
