open pyeloplasty post op question

I am wondering if anyone has had experience in recovering from an open dismembered pyeloplasty?  I was recently diagnosed with a severe right upj obstruction with hydronephrosis.  Had a cystoscopy and stent initially, followed by the surgery, with a repeat cysto, stent removal and retrograde pylelogram three weeks after surgery.

The surgery was 5 weeks ago and i still have a lot of swelling at the incision site and feel like a foot is stuck under my right rib cage.  I have pain and spasm that worsens with activity.  I am very active.  Went back to work 2 weeks after surgery.  No nausea or fever.  Just pain, that i would like to be rid of.

I called the uro whose nurse told me ureteral swelling and kidney swelling may last for 8 weeks.  I have an IVP scheduled the end of March.

Anyone with a similar experience?
