pain in groin

i have been diagnosed with prostatitis before, and then one month ago, i got some redness and swelling on my inner groin near my thigh.  there was slight discomfort with urination, and there was a dull pain in my right testicle.  went to my urologist and he said my prostate was fine, but gave me dioxycyline (sp) for the testicle pain.  since then the pain in my testicle has subsided, yet the pain my groin is still there.  it is on and off, and now there is pain and skin sensitivity  in the area between the genitals and anus.  also, there was a throbbing somewhat behind my testicles and when i applied pressure, it felt awful.  it felt like my prostate was throbbing.  i had to sit on a hardwood floor to relieve the pressure.  now i also have some pain in the back of my legs.  is this prostatitis.  i am going back to my urologist this week, but wanted to get some feedback.  thanks.

i went to my urologist and he said that my prostate was fine, however that the pain in the groin was from the prostate.  he said it is something i will have to live with.  i don't think i can live with this.  both sides of my inner thigh are overly sensitive as well as my scrotum.  there are no bumps or anything like that, and a little redness.  also my perineum is pretty sensitive as well.  i also have this dull pain right above my penis.  i am clueless.  i am getting some goldbond to see if that helps with the chaffing.  any imput would be very helpful.  thanks.

Hi,

You posted a message on medhelp almost 9 years ago where you were talking about pain in your groin along with sensitive skin. I have had the exact same symptoms for the past 8 months and it's literally driving me mad! Doctors just look at me like I'm making things up so was hoping you could shed some light on this.. did you get it resolved in the end?

I know it was a long time ago now so really hoping you still have the same email address.

Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Is there any skin redness?

Any pain in urination with some straining during urination?

Any increase in urinary frequency?

Fever, nausea, vomiting?

I suggest you seek immediate consult with your urologist. Acute prostatitis may present with an extremely tender prostate and a positive urine culture. Was urinalysis with urine culture done?

Other differentials will be a ureteral stone that refers pain in the testicular area, a skin infection, epididymitis ( but may be unlikely in your case), testicular swelling
( varicocele, spermatocele).

You may discuss these differentials with your urologist.Do keep us posted for anything.
