I have both chronic cystitis and interstitial cystitis...,
there are several meds designed to help with the pain, all three are over the counter but it is best to check with your pharmacist or doctor just to make sure they will not interact with any medication she is already one.

AZO, (the plain one for bladder pain only, they have a cranberry and yeast formula too.)
Uristat
or Cystex.

Be careful with the cranberry.  Though cranberry is good to fight off infections the acidity is known to irritate an already sore bladder!  Blueberry is a better alternative or something called D-Mannose, which is sold at healthfood stores.  It is the sugars that are in Cranberry or blueberry that keep the bacteria from attaching, without the acidity.  It is not supposed to raise blood sugar levels either!  Silverbiotics by American Bitotech Labs has been the best thing long term to help keep my infections under control.

Feel free to pm for links to helpful info. etc.  I am also a support group leader for patients with IC or chronic bladder pain here in Missouri or Arkansas, MOARK IC,
so we have a  lot of info on ways to deal with the bladder pain!  Hopefully the info above and getting on the right antibiotics will have your wife back on tract very quickly, but if not then feel free to contact me for more information!

Hi; I'm seventeen years old, i suffer with cystitus and have done for a while now. I find that the best releif if she's in a fair bit of pain is take paracetamol for temporary releif and just keep taking 2 every 4 hours, drink PLENTY of water to flush out your system & buy cranberry juice if possible as i find this works and definitley don't have sex when she has the infection.
I've previously been put on antibiotics to help cure it, but it's come back so tell her to take care & do the things you can to help prevent getting it as my cystitus turned into an acute kidney infection; which is very painful.

I hope this helps & i hope it clears up; i sympathise with her pain, it's horrible to have.
