penis vains

since I was about 13 i noticed that when i get an erection a large vain appears right down the middle of my penis and circles right befor the forskin. over the years it has gotten a little bigger, and is now noticeable even when im not erect.
it dosnt hurt or anything but it dosnt help my confidence with girls. Is this normal? can i do something to make is go away. will i have to have surgery?
