prostatic bleeding

by Sofiya, Apr 06, 2004 12:00AM
My husband had a prostate cancer. In 1995 after X-rays therapy,
his prostate cancer was cured. Until August 2003 his health condition (he is 87 seven year old) was good besides several cystoscopy because of stones in urine bladder. His doctor explained that a stone formation  in urine bladder is a result of X-ray’s site effects. The last summer, when my husband had a hematuria, his urologist  tested him and diagnosed that a hematuria is a result of prostate bleeding. His urologist noticed me that no any cure exists for prostate bleeding. Almost eight month my husband is bleeding . In spite of biweekly transfusion my husband's condition  becomes worse and worse. If anybody can help my husband? Please, let me know what should I do?

Potential cures would depend on what is causing the prostatic bleeding (i.e. recurrance of the cancer or a mass).  If the bleeding continues, there should be consideration for taking the prostate out.  It may be that your husband is a poor surgical candidate (thus the urologist saying that no cure exists).

If the bleeding continues, you may want to inquire about a second urological opinion.

Another consideration would be checks for any clotting disorders (i.e. blood count and coagulation studies) that would delay any wound healing.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
