i am 55 yrs old .i have enlarged prostate and have been checking my psa level every 6 months and the results havee always been below 2.5. suddenly in the last test psa level jumped to 12.1.at about the same time i habeen suffering from anal fissure. my question is can anal fissure cause psa level elevation? iam planning to do a 2nd test to confirm the result.If the second test turned out to be normal what would be your recommendation.

I am not aware of an anal fissure elevating the PSA level. Repeating the test is a good idea - but with a PSA level above 10, you may want to consider a urology referral and prostate biopsy. Prostate cancer should be ruled out first before attributing the cause to other diseases.
If the PSA result turned out to be some kind of error, I would serially repeat the test according to your physician's recommendations.
