what is a renal ultrasound and is it invasive?
A renal ultrasound is a noninvasive test. It looks at the kidneys, and provides the patient with far less radiation exposure than a traditional xray, or CT scan. Perhaps you're familiar with a pregnant woman having an ultrasound, where a water based gel is placed onto her belly and then a wand is pressed onto the abdomen. A renal ultrasound is the same procedure, except over the kidneys.
