scrotal swelling age 16

I have noticed swelling occuring in the scrotum behind the testes, and it is very discomforting, and minorly painful. The symptoms seem something similar to a hydrocele but I am not sure.
The swelling occured today and the scrotum appears to have swollen to the size of a grapefruit.
The testicles are completely unaffected, I am just unsure of my condition for I am only 16 years old
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me how to recover properly.

Hi,

Eventhough the swelling has gone down, it is best that see a doctor. I also have had bouts of epididymitus and orchitis, however each time I had that, it hurt really bad. It is best to find out what caused it. If it swelled that much with in an hour there must be some reason for it.

All the best.

I'm not sure if its anything serious, the swelling had seemed to occured over the course of an hour, no pain was experienced, only very little when I touched it at first, the swelling has greatly decreased, and it does not hurt at all. I'm just concerned that this could be serious, or cancerous. I'm not sure what to think.

The swelling is still there, but has noticably gone down over the past 2 days. It does not hurt at all, the swelling seems to be between the testicles, but not touching them, and I am not experiencing any pain.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Scrotal swelling can be due to infections like epididymitis or orchitis, hydrocele, hernia, testicular torsion, varicocele or surgery in the genital area. You can provide support to the scrotum by wearing an athletic supporter, apply ice to the scrotum, take warm baths if there are signs of inflammation, while lying down, place a rolled towel under your scrotum or try over-the-counter pain relievers, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,

It is hard to determine what is going on without seeing it. Swelling of the scrotum should be taken serious. You state that the testicles are unaffected, and you mentione minor pain.
It is possible that is is a hydrocele but there could be other seasons. One of those could be a hernia, where part of the bowel dropped into the scrotum.
I know that you most likely are embarrised but you do need to see a doctor. Things can get wrose fast.
I decided to wait when I had my hernia and by the second day I could barely walk due to the pain. It seemed to be a strangulated hernia and I was lucky enough that the section of bowel was OK. Had it been deprived of a bloodflow any longer the section would have died. Even with this, I was hospitalized for 4 days.

I hope that you will get better soon.

All the best.
