should I worry about priapism?

by GoldSilver33, Nov 12, 2008 04:36PM

        Hello,

I recently was prescribed both seroquel and paxil for mood stabilization, OCD, and IBS.  I initially took the generic paxil 20MG and seroquel 50MG.   The mix worked well and didn't really have any major side effects,  Both I went to the brand name paxil with the seroquel; and noticed some strong erections the morning that lasted for 90 minutes to 2 hours.  Unfortunately, the rigitiy made it difficult to go back to flaccid.

I have no history of sickle cell anemia or leukemia, so I am not at risk for priapism, but I am still concerned.   These erections seem abnormal because my penis is about 1.25 bigger and the glans looks very red.   The doctor told me that only trazadone or wellbutrin give priapism and to take sudafed, and only seek help if I have major pain and if lasts over 4 hours.  I will see both the PCP and psychaitrist again soon, should I change medicines?  Can I develop priapism?
