small lump in my penis

Hello,

For at least six months now, possibly longer, I've had a very small beebee-like lump in my penis.  I can find it with a bit of searching when I'm flaccid, but when I’m erect, it pushes to the surface and becomes much more noticeable.  It’s hard, I can move it around under the skin, it’s completely painless, and not at all sensitive.  I can even pinch it.  I want to say it feels like a cyst but I’ve never really had one before and can’t be certain.

It’s on the bottom-right, near the head, between the scar-ring from my circumcision (I was circumcised as an infant) and the glans.  I don’t think it’s symptomatic of Peyronie’s Disease because there’s no curvature, no pain, it seems to be deeper than the tunica albuginea, and it doesn’t really feel like scar tissue.  From what I’ve read, thrombosis of a lymphatic vessel is a possible culprit, but shouldn’t that have gone away after a few weeks?  I’ve researched about cysts but I don’t see much info on how to self-diagnose a median raphe cyst.  It doesn’t seem to have gotten any bigger or smaller since I’ve noticed it.  Could this be at all related to a case of penile eczema I had about six months ago?  The eczema was completely superficial and went away with some steroid cream and Cetaphil, although there remains a slight scar, as if from an abrasion.  The lump is not directly beneath the eczema site, but very close to it.  I noticed the lump when I was caring for the eczema.

I plan on making an appointment with a urologist to have it examined, but I’m in the military on deployment in Iraq.  I should be home in a few weeks and plan on having it checked out then.  I don’t really trust the medics here to make an accurate assessment.

I’ve been checked for STDs several times, I’m not sexually active, I’m a 29 y/o male in otherwise excellent health.  I’m also a little freaked out.  Please help!!

Doctor,

Thanks so much for getting back to me.  I'm finally home in the states and am trying to get a referral to a urologist.  The military's health care plan is a huge pain.  Anyway, I had a quick follow-up question: could this lump, which is completely subcutaneous, be residual scar tissue from the superficial scar tissue?

Again, I appreciate your prompt reply to my previous question.  Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
It is difficult to comment without examining the lump. It could be an enlarged vein or a varicose vein as it enlarges with erection. Small cysts and lumps at the frenulum level are normal. Sweat glands too look enlarged with erection. It could also be a sebaceous gland. A lymphocele too is normal and so are pearly white papules.

Personally I do not think you need to worry much. When you are able to get your urologist to look at it. No need to panic.

Hope this helps.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
