spasms in the testicles

My 17 yr old son has been having spasms on the left side of his scrotum.
The urologist ruled out hernia and infections and sent us home.
This has been going on for several months and he is getting fustrated.
The spasms/pain only lasts a couple minutes and he gets this pain every day.
Any ideas on what might cause this?
