spermatocele

I have a question about post op removel (removal) of a spermatocele.  The surgery was done on July 31.  This was a fairly large cyst on top of and behind my testicle.  since it has been removed the area where the cyst was and behind is hard/firm to the touch.  This feels like it is all in the epididimas area There is no pain or any other swelling in this area.  I can feel the testicle and dont feel anything odd there.
What is the casue of this?  Will it go away?

Spermatocelectomy is at times associated with sclerotherapy, to prevent the recurrence of the spermatocele.  Complications of the spermatocelectomy includes epididymal obstruction from inadvertent injury to the epididymis and potential infertility.  Bleeding and infection, which present typically as a scrotal hematoma or a wound infection, can also occur leading to the firmness.

If sclerotherapy was also performed, patients may also develop a firmer scrotal wall as a result of the inflammatory reaction within the scrotum and the resultant fibrin deposition.

I would follow-up closely with your urologist - if there is any suspicion of anything wrong, an ultrasound can be ordered.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
