This patient support community is for discussions relating to urology issues, benign prostate disease, penis curvature, cystisis, kidney stones, pediatric urology, prostate, sexual dysfunction, urinary tract infections, and urological cancers.
I now have had an indwelling catheter since the beginning of March 2008, due to urological problems.
During this time I have had three catheter changes. While I had the second catheter in my penis swelled to about twice it's normal size after about the third week. I believe that it was due to an infection in the urethra. I had noticed a white yellowish discharge. After taking Cipro, the discharge disappeared as well as the swelling.
It is hard to say that this would be the case with the people that you have helped.
I have also had bouts of orchitis or epididymitis at times being the cause of scrotal swelling.
The chances of infection while having a catheter in is much higher then normally.
