testical pain and discoloration of semen

Last year I had an unprotected sexual encounter. About 4 weeks after I noticed that the consitency and color of my sperm and semen had changed from pearly white and thick, to yellowish membrainy and watery. Also there was a pain in my left testical that has since spread on occasion to my right testical. I went to the local clinic and was found to have nothing wrong (checked for STDs). I was told it was probably nothing and to wait it out. After about 10 months there was no change so I visted my family doctor. I was given a prostate exam and had my urine checked. He thought it possible that I had Chlamydia and was treated with doxycyclyne for 6 weeks. This had no affect on the problem. So I visted a urologist he performed the same tests and found every thing to be negative. He said it was probably not related to the sexual encounter that I had and just a normal occurence in males. I never had this before. It all seems a little too strange that this happened after the sexual encounter I had. I still have concern. I feel something is wrong somewhere so what do I do now?

A couple of things could be considered.  The first would be chronic prostatitis.  This can certainly cause lingering symptoms if not properly treated.  A digital rectal exam as well as culturing any prostatic fluid and possible transrectal ultrasound can be considered for further evaluation if the initial prostate exam is negative.

If there is pain in the testicle, then possibility of infection in the epididymis can be considered.  An ultrasound of the scrotum would be a good start.

You may also want to consider sending off the sperm sample for analysis for a more thorough evaluation.

Discussion of these possibilities should be made with your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
