Can you recomend a urologist in miami,fl that would perform an aspiration of a hydrocele with sclerosing. When i tell my urologist he has no idea what adding sclerosing means. he does perform aspiration but i would like to see the results of aspiration with sclerosing . thank you
Hi,
Thanks for writing in. A hydrocele testis is the accumulation of fluids around a testicle, and is fairly common. A hydrocele testis is due to fluid secreted from a remnant piece of peritoneum wrapped around the testis called the tunica vaginalis. It can also be as a result of cancer, trauma or orchitis. It can also be the result of a plugged inguinal lymphatic system caused by repeated chronic infection.
Hydroceles are usually not dangerous, and they are usually only treated when they cause discomfort or embarrassment, or if they are large enough to threaten the testicle's blood supply. Options available are aspiration-Aspiration may be the best alternative for people who have certain surgical risks, Sclerosing (thickening or hardening) medications may be injected after aspiration to close off the opening. This helps prevent the future build up of fluid.
The other mode of treatment is surgery, it gives excellent outcome.
In your case as there is recurrence of hydrocele after surgery, check for inguinal hernia as this causes recurrence of hydroceles. Also check for infections and take treatment for them, because chronic infections are an important cause for recurrence of hydroceles.
Consult your urologist for further assistance.
Take care.
