tight bladder neck

During the last 3 yrs my pee flow was slow and sometimes was difficult to pee but no discomfort feeling.
since last 8 months I started to feel discomfort in groin area and pee frequent so I went to URO speacilst.
After the cytoscopy, Uro told me my bladder neck is spasm and tight , then he put me on flomax 0.4mg for
6 months. Now my pain in groin has been reduced to more than half also my frequent pee is little bit reduced.
But my remaining symptom is still so bothersome. My other Uro advise me to have a bladder neck incision.
Do you think the incision can cure my sympton. ( I am 43 yrs old)
Thanks!!!!

Hi,

The incision in the bladderneck might work but it also could cause other problems.

I underwent a TURP and resection of the bladderneck in 1995 I was 30 at the time. It was noted through a cystoscopy that I had an obstruction of the bladderneck. Symptoms seemed that have disapeared for about 6 months then things were about the same again or worse. Through urodinamics test it was then determined that I have a neurogenic bladder. I now use intermittant catherization. One of the side effects of this surgery is the urgency to urinate.

Currently I also have a fistula (hole) in the prostate and rectum. This most likely was caused due to the catherization or the weakened area of the prostate bladderneck.

If I would have to do things over, I would wait and see if things would improve. If not than surgery would be the only option.

God bless,

Ron
