trouble with urination/forcing

Dear Doctor
For the past four to five months, I have had trouble with urination.  I am unable to urinate normally.  I must force it out and lately there has been a lot of pain associated with it.  There is no blood nor odor involved in urination.  I have had an ultrasound done and have seen a Urologist.  The ultrasound found a mass, which appeared to them to have been in the bladder or attached to it, which they felt may be blocking the urethra.  However, upon seeing the Urologist and having a scope done, he concluded that there was nothing there.  My concerns are, I am still unable to urinate normally and very rarely get it all out at one time or sitting.  I often have the urge to go, but it never all comes out.  It must be forced out and before urination begins, there is moderate to sometimes intensive pain.  I am at my whits end.  Please help.  Also, I am a 32 year of female, who doesn't think this is very normal for someone my age.  Could there be something seriously wrong with me?
Signed Frustrated.

Dear Ragen,
Thanks for your question. To summarize, you are having burning during voiding and you need tor strain to empty your bladder.  There may be several reasons for such a condition including neurological problem with bladder, inflammation or narrowing of urethra (quite unlikely, though much over diagnosed), or even drug side effects.
Ultrasound and cystoscopy are usually very helpful in initial evaluation.  If they are normal, you need a urodynamic evaluation in which bladder pressures are measured and functional status evaluated.  That may give some clue to the cause for your problem. You should contact a urologist who specializes in female urological problems such as you describe.
Hope this information will be of some help to you.
