twisted spermatic cord ??

by Kurt25, Feb 23, 2009 02:15AM
I have noticed the my right testicle is hanging horizontally, it is not causing any pain , and it only happens for few times a day (like when the scrotum is not expanded). Normally it s hanging vertically. Is this normal?  Or it is a sign of a possible torsion?
I m 30 years old.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. In some males the testicle lies loosely in the tunica vaginalis due to which it can move freely and take transverse position. When in transverse position the veins engorge, arteries constrict and lead to ischemia and pain.
Transient torsion and detorsion of the testicle can lead to permanent damage of the testicle and also can have greater chances of complete torsion of the testicle.
I would suggest that you consult a urologist for physical examination and confirmation of diagnosis as well as advise on treatment.
Best.
