unable to urinate fully after foley catheter removed

What can be done if you can urinate about 150 cc but need to self cath to empty bladder 500 cc ?

Hi,
The cause of the urinary retention has to be found out. If there’s any obstruction in the urinary tract causing the interference in the flow, then the obstruction has to be relieved. On the other hand, if it’s due to the weakness of the detrussors (muscles of the urinary bladder which help in expelling urine), there’re medications to which help in causing the muscles to contract and push urine. Please do consult a urologist for the same as you may need some urodynamic studies to find out the underlying cause. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
