urinary frequency

by flippe, Sep 05, 2005 12:00AM
I awake every two hours during the night to void and 2 to 3 during the day,so I am run down all time because of the sleep distrubrances I have tried detrol ,etc. Have had 2 cystoscopy and visited a neurology clinic.
Has any heard of a procedure where they surgically desensitize the bladder.A while back I thought I came across something about this.
Thank you for any information

There can be several causes for increased urinary frequency.  All infection needs to be ruled out.  This can be done via a urinalysis and urine culture.

A non-revealing cystocopy is encouraging in that there will unlikely be an obstruction causing the symptoms.  If you are male, a thorough prostate check needs to be considered to rule out any enlargement.

Metabolic problems like diabetes or thyroid disorders can also be considered as well.  Blood tests can be done to rule out these possibilities.

As for surgical desensitization - I am not familiar with this procedure.  If the tests discussed above are negative, this can be considered with your urologist and neurologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
