anyone have an experience with rectocele surgery?

hi there, I'm having a tubal ligation, bladdersling/mesh, and rectocele surgery in a couple weeks. I think the thing i'm worried most about is the rectocele part of it, I expect that to be the most painful after. Does anyone have any experience with this surgery? How did it go? how was recovery? (I have 3 small children) and what kind of pain medication was given after the surgery, i'm so scared of waking up in a lot of pain. Thanks so much :)

I have not had the surgery yet :( I have been waiting since May should be soon, Im only getting 2 days notice as to when I'm having it. But I feel comfortable getting it done, because I m tired of the incontinence, and the rectocele hurts. What you said about being scared to have sex scares me....The doctor told me that he was going to repair it and make it smaller, I hope it doesn't end up being too small. I have done a lot of research, usually they don't use mesh anymore, just TVT, maybe my surgery is a little different then yours. Is there any other option for you other then the scope, something cheaper; ultrasound? I always see commercials for lawsuits against that mesh, maybe look into that? Hope you feel better soon.

I read your post. I was wondering if you have had the removal surgery yet? I do not have much money either and was wondering if you did and how you were able to get the surgery done. I cannot stand the pain and my depression is killing me. Some advice is better than nothing at all. thank you

I had the surgery back in 2007.   I do not recommend it unless you research it all the way.
I had the bladder lift also.
I went to dr and told her I felt like a stitch came undone - she put tape on my ..area...
Well, now I have complications.   Also, the mesh that was used has been eroding!
I did not know and was told years ago that it was surgical scaring.  Nope, it is eroding.   I have pain in my abdomen and severe back pain that is driving me nuts.   I am scared and embarressed.
Now, I am researching this crap and trying to figure out what to do.  I am not rich; therefore, I can't afford the med help I need.  Uro dr wants me to come in next month so she can put scope inside and see what's up with the mesh.  Ha!   $600 !   Pain and broke.

So, if you have money for your future - go through this surgery; otherwise, seek another doctor.

Kegel exercises - Accept you are a woman who had three beautiful children and wear pads.   I wish I could go back.   Now, my vaginal opening is too small ..scared to have sex :(
