When our grandson visited a gastroenterologist at Denver Children's Hospital, he recommended Culturelle.  They also make Culturelle Junior, and both are usually sold at Walmart.  It is expensive, but it works.  My daughter gave it mixed in applesauce.  A lot of probiotics are actually destroyed by the acid in the stomach.  This one in particular is able to bypass that problem.  Another advantage:  It comes wrapped in individual doses, foil sealed.  Great for taking places in your purse.

The most important probiotic for toddlers is bifidus, not found in most yoghurt.  If you're going to use yoghurt, make sure you buy it in a health food store -- all probiotics are killed during pasteurization, so you need a company that adds back in live cultures.  Still, yoghurt has very few cultures, so if you're dealing with a specific problem, such as a die-off due to antibiotic use, a supplement contains millions or billions of organisms.  If you go to your local health food store, or even a Whole Foods, they will have a child's formula in powder form.  Make sure you only buy one that is refrigerated.  And before you sue yoghurt, make sure your child doesn't have either an intolerance to or allergy to dairy, which is quite prevalent given that no other animal eats dairy once weaned, nor do they eat the dairy of another species.

hi, this is better; go to a vitamin store and buy ultra high culture count Pro-biotics and then while shopping pick up plain yogurt and mix a couple capsules in and add natural fruit that is cheap and in season, peaches, strawberries, or just bananas etc.
. . let the yogurt sit out to warm a little before mixing and u will get more in one dessert than 20 packages of junk off the shelf and far less expensive.
u can also blend in milk with fruit, ice cream etc
    . ... good luck
