vit D deficiency

I am a vit D deficient.The level of vit D in my blood is 3.9 ng/ml.How much vit D should I take? I have not started any medication yet.

Did your doctor not advise you after the test? If not I would call back for a recommendation.  In my area, doctors advise all patients to take at least 2000 units per day.  They sometimes even give vit D shots if it's super low.  I've found we're much less susceptible to illness when we're taking 2000 units/day.
