After all the hard work I have to eat even LESS now!!!???

by Aruba417, Apr 03, 2007 12:00AM
Hey everyone. As some of you know, I've been counting calories since January and have cut out a lot of carbs. I've lost 18 pounds since and have been doing great. According to the diet plan I'm following, I should be able to slowly start adding more calories back into my diet. I had been eating 1200 calories daily.

But I was looking at a website that has calorie counters, and it said at the weight I'm at now (140), in order for me to continue my weight-loss, I'm actually going to have to eat even less calories now. It said I should average only 1120 calories every other day (1260 on the off days) in order to continue losing weight. So I have a question...If I want to maintain my weight-loss once I reach my goal, am I EVER going to be able to eat more than 1300 calories a day???

What website are you looking on?  That sounds crazy to me, you should eventually be able to eat a specific calorie amount to maintain.  For instance to maintain a weight of 130 lbs, the website I checked says you can eat 1859 calories/day.

I'm starting the calorie counting now too.  I currently weigh 145 and would like to get down to 130 by Memorial Day!

This is the website I looked at was naturalphysiques.com. The 1120 calories a day thing is for the "extreme" weight-loss...which is what I want - haha. I guess you're right....once you want to maintain you can eat more. It's just that lately I'm feeling hungry again like I did when I first started dieting in January. I don't know why. And when I read that if I didn't want the weight-loss to stop that I'd have to eat even LESS I was frustrated. I guess I'm going to have to get used to the fact that I'll never be able to eat like a thin person eats. My little sis eats 10 times more calories a day than I do and she's got the perfect little body! GRRRR. I'll never be able to eat like that without ballooning up again.

You have the same goal I have - to be 130 by Memorial Day! We can do it!

maybe instead of decreasing calories you could increase your cardio workout. Like do it twice a day 3 days a week or go longer when you are doing it, look into HIIT. It might be what you need

What is HIIT?  I'm figure high impact something? I'm not able to work out twice a day...I mean, I guess TECHNICALLY I could if I wanted to get even less sleep than I normally get - haha. Realistically, I can work out probably 4 days a week....it's just actually making the time to DO it. I went jogging last night and I feel pretty good this morning. And I'm jogging again tonight. Mondays and Thursdays (evenings) I coach softball so I'm not able to work-out. By the time I get home it's usually 9:30. I never realized that being thin was such hard work the older you get. When I was in high school I never remember it being this hard - hahaha!

HIIT is high intensity interval training. example- walk 30 sec run as hard as you can for 30 sec repeat or you can do 2 min intervals. They say it keeps metabolism revivng for up to 2 days :) OH make sure to warm up good and cool down good. Google it. there is some great info on the web on this.

I currently walk for 3 minutes, then run for 3 minutes, and I do this for 30 mins at least 3-4 times a week.  Is this kinda what you're talking about?

by live4fitness, Apr 05, 2007 12:00AM
yes. have you seen any results?  and how long have you been doing it. i am very interested

When I do it continuously, I feel great, but I seem to always get side tracked and slack off.  Not this time though!!  I fully intend to lose 10-15 by Memorial Day.  So far this week, I've done it EVERY day and feel pretty good.  I tried the 30 sec walk, 30 sec run last night, that really got my heart rate up.  After about 12 mins I had to start doing 1 min walk, 30 sec run.  I was still dying after I was done, b/c I did it for 30 mins!

I weigh myself every Friday and as of this morning I'm at 137.5! So that's seven and a half pounds to go...I can do it! What day to you weigh yourself? We can keep each other on track so we reach our Memorial day goal!

WOW. Most people due 6mins maybe up to 15. They due this method so they can shorten there cardio time. WOW!!!! Have you lost any weight?

Arubu I weight every am and pm that it keeps me accountable so I won't slip up. I writ it on a peice of paper on my bathroom wall.

live4fitness - I lost a couple pounds last week, but I haven't quite gotten my eating under control yet.  I'm TRYING to eat good and count calories during the week, then allow myself the weekends off, but when I weighed this morning I had gained 1 lb back.  I even did HIIT on both Sat & Sun.  So I guess I need to be a little more careful on the weekends.

I have to do this!  I can't imagine going to the lake this summer feeling the way I do about myself!  I've always been self-conscious though.

Aruba417 - I weighed 144 this morning.  But on Saturday morning b4 I splurged, I weighed 143.  The weekends are my weakness what can I say!

At my wedding in 2005, I only weighed 124 lbs.  I've gained 20 lbs in 2 years!  How depressing is that?  VERY.

weight gain is normal in a new marriage. Try doing some wieght training to loose the fat. Cardio is good but weight training is just as important. Count calories but make sure you are eating good which means cook your food eat fruite and vegs don't eat things out of a package example yogurt has a lot of suger in it- corn syrup. Good luck
