Anyone else do this?

I have been trying to lose weight for about 10 years now.  First I only had to lose 10 lbs., then 20 now 30 or more.  My weight just goes up every year about 3-5 lbs. no matter what I do.  Anyway, I always start some kind of diet or even just wishful thinking, and I say to myself *By Christmas, I will be 10 lbs. thinner* or *By the summer I will lose 20 lbs. and look great* or *By the time of this wedding, I'll lose so much weight that I can buy a nice dress* and it NEVER happens!

The time comes and I am just as big or bigger!  It's so discouraging because I do try.  Am I crazy to keep thinking these thoughts?  Maybe I should just resign myself to the fact that after all this time, I will never lose any weight.

the 500 calories is hard but the shots help with the feelings of hunger and it is suppose to reformulate the fat cells in your body....

If i tried only eating 500 without the shots I would never make it.

Anyway good luck with your weight loss

Niffer, thank you for your kind words.  I am still plugging away.  Mstif, that diet kind of sounds like starvation!  But I understand because that's pretty much what I have to do to lose weight.  I have done about 800 calories, but it's hard to keep it up and then as soon as you go back to eating like a normal person, the weight comes back on.  However, I hope it works for you and the weight stays gone.

i have tried so many diets. some have worked some have not. but overtime I alwaysend up eating the same way as before and the weight comes back.

Now I am trying the HCG diet. Its where you take hcg injections and are only allowed a very strict diet of a certain make up of 500 calories a day.

so far I have lost 11 pounds in 12 days. (and I have cheated here and there a little so it would have been more.)

its hard to stick with it but it DOES WORK for me anyway, my sister and my mom are both losing about a pound a day as well.

Well I respect and admire your hard work so the next thing I would recommend would be to see a homeopathic doctor or naturopath as maybe they can help you with your thyroid condition. Also, although weight watchers (I have clients also on WW) they are probalby allowing you points comparable to a person with a regular throid and metabolism. It may be hard but with underactive thyroid, slow metabolism, and as we age we really have to try harder and eat less. I know how discouraging is must feel but all we can do is be the best we can and accept ourselves and love ourselves. It sure sounds like you put in all the effort so Just do what you are doing and believe in yourself.

Best of wishes!

I know how you feel...  I'm been battling with my weight most of my life! and I'm a WW gold member sometimes changing little thing work, like have a different breakfast everyday, eat more free food!! because the more you eat the right thing the more you burn calories, most important keep a diary of everything that pass your lips.. you 'll be surprise how much you nibble without thinking and forgotten food do count!!

Just don't give up.  No matter what happens, you've made positive, healthy changes in your diet and exercise.

If you give up, I guarantee that the pounds will start to pile on, and you'll be back where you started, or worse!

Keep up with your healthy lifestyle.  Don't give up!

Hi, I do all the things you said.  I have been doing really well since March.  I don't eat junk, drink only water, very little sugar, no red meat.  I am on WW and count my points.  I don't understand why this isn't working.  There is a lady, peekawho, is trying to advise me and help me out.

I'm not talking about not being able to eat properly or stay on a plan, I'm talking about when you actually do it right and then don't lose the weight.  If I was cheating, then at least I would know that's the reason, but I really don't.  I'm too afraid to cheat that I will gain even more.  But I appreciate all the advise.

The problem with dieting is you lose 10 lbs but you gain the same weight back plus 5 lbs so you end up with 15 lbs back on....and over and over. Weigh loss is a lifestyle the important thing is be willing to let it take time and just gradually change one thing at a time that you can live with. Do not go overboard and do too much or eat too little. DIETS DO NOT WORK!

Just start by eliminating juice and pop and adding about 3 Litres of water a day. exercising 2-3 times a week shorter bouts.

Then add more fruit and vegetables into your diet. Up the cardio time and do 3-4 times a week.

Then add more  eliminate eating late night snacks and exercise a little more.

and so on and so on as your body gradually adapts.

You can do it if you are will to do it slowly so just aim for .5-1.5 lbs loss a week and you will do fine. So good luck

I do the same thing.  We both have good intentions but for some reason self-sabatoge ourselves.  Maybe we are afraid of succeeding or hard work.  It's more psychological that physilogical.  The thought of depriving myself makes my brain lie to me.  I wish there was a magic pill to stop the lies I tell myself.

Hi.  Yes, I exercise 4 days a week.  I have done it my whole life. Now I am older with health issues so I don't do as much, but I do swimming, bike, elliptical, light weights.
My diet is very good, healthy and I've been on Weight Watchers since Feb. and lost nothing.  I have a thyroid issue and very slow metabolism, but I was really hoping to lose something this time.
