CAn't Loose a POUND

I started dieting over 2 1/2 months ago and did great the first 2 months.  I lost 20 pounds and 2 dress sizes but now I can't loose an ounce.  I exercise (cardio) over an hour 5 times per week and have been exercising for the past 3 weeks -  I have not cheated and been very dedicated -accounding to my BMI I am "overweight" and need to loose another 30 to 35 pounds.  I am discouraged because I am not getting any good results on the scale as of the past 2 weeks.  I thought when I started exercising I would loose more weight but instead - I am not loosing any weight at all.  I am still on a low calorie diet and I have not cheated!  What's my problem?

I was a mega athlete and never had problems with my weight as a teen into adulthood.  Then I had kids and then my back went out.  I was perscibed a drug for the nerves in my back and gained over a 100 lbs in 6 months.  I now after 4 years and continued weight gain weigh 300 lbs.  I am turning 40 and am tired of the weight.  I am in pain from my head to my feet.  I had back surgery 6 months ago and now am really ready to get off the weight.  I have had everything checked out and the doctors find nothing wrong.  Why do I not loose weight.  I don't eat like crazy but I do try and eat smaller meals through out the day.  Please help.

I can't loose a pound.  I work out faithfully and stay aware of my food choices.  I had ran a marathon a month ago and gained approximatley 15 ponds training for it.  I know I may have built some muscle but not 15 pounds worth.  I was running on avarage 18 miles a week.  I am barely 5ft. tall so every pound counts. I have a athletic build meaning I hold alot of muscle mass. I have been eating small meals every two to three hours and it does help a bit with feeling hungry but no weight loss.  I began doing Tae-Bo last againe last week and I haven't ran since the marathon becouse I must loose this weight.  I am at the end of my rope.  I am a nursing student and I use to teach aerobics and power lifted a bit when I was younger.  I understand the mechanics behind weight loss and I have been applying them.  I have had my thyroid checked and I even went a saw an endocronologist(study of blood) to see if they could find anything.  Nothing!!! I have a low BP 110/60 and sometimes I wonder if that is the under lying factor.  The doctors say no.  I am so frustrated.  Anyone have any advice, comments, HELP???????????

As i suggested several times to other people, try CLEANSING YOUR COLON. I copied and pasted a post that I previously wrote to another person....

You may want to cleanse your colon. I know that when crud, parasites, etc.. is in your colon, it doesnt matter how healthy you eat because the parasites takes all the nutrients from your body. Then it prevents you from getting all the vitamins you need to have a healthy body & prevents you from having normal bowel movements (you are suppose to move your bowels 3 times a day)
Anyways, I cleansed my colon and noticed that Im feeling so much better, my bowel movements are regular, and I felt like I lost 10 pounds instantly...but I only lost like 2- 3 pounds just from taking it. And all that weight was from all the crud and gunk in my colon.
Bottom line....CLEANSE YOUR COLON. Too many people make mistakes in doing everything else but that! And to start a healthy lifestyle, you have to get rid of all that gunk, parasites, etc..
Oh, and before you start spending 100's of dollars on colon cleansers that dont work, go to http://www.jadesproductions.com I bought their sample and it worked like in the 1-2 day. Its the only one that worked for me (out of the 100s I've tried)
Hope this helps.

I had a baby 9 months ago. When I stopped breastfeeding I gained 14 lbs in 10 days. YIKE! I tried dieting alone which didn't help. So I bought a treadmill. In the first 3 weeks of dieting (incuding counting calories) and using the treadmill 5-6 days a week, I lost 5 lbs. In the last month - NOTHING! My average day consists of eating 1200 to 1400 calories and 650 to 750 calories burned. I drink plenty of water tto. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to give up but I'm getting very frustrated! My goal is 20 more lbs. PLEASE HELP!!!

I joined LA Weight Loss about 28 weeks ago. Lost only 7 lbs so far. Everytime I go, I have either gained a few ounces or a couple pounds.

I have not seen a loss in over a month or so.  I am getting so frustrated.

I walk about a mile or more a day. They allow you 2 proteins, 4 vegs, 2 starches, 3 fruits, 1 fat, 1 dairy and then of course they sell you their bars that you have to eat 2x a day(they are really good)

I am so frustrated, I am about to think stop eating for a while is the only way. Ofcourse, you gain first, but then you should start loosing. I was down to about a size 16 before I had my 2nd child, now, I can only dream of that size.

I am so frusterated at the lack of success, it's putting me into a depressed mood everytime I know I have to go get weighed. I do have hypothyroidism, but come on, that excuse can only last for so long.

YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO EAT BELOW 1200 CALORIES A DAY BECAUSE YOUR BODY GOES INTO STARVATION MODE......... TRY EATING AT LEAST 1200. GOOD LUCK!

You also may be doing cardio at a heart rate that is too high.  If you are above the fat burning zone 6-75%, your body is forced to use carbohydrates.  When it is done buring carboyhdrates, it starts buring muscle.  It sucks to have to slow down sometimes, but it helps.

Dont' give up... losing weight is no easy task. Your doing really well! The first couple of weeks is always easier. Then you reach a plateau and that's when you can't give up. I've always been an avid exerciser and strict on my eating habbits. Normally if I want to loose five pounds it takes me two months before I can even loose one... so stick in there. It's worth it and the long term results will be well worth it too! Maybe you could do some interveral training on your cardio and add weight training if you arn't already. You body is changing even though it may not show it on the scales. The muscle you are building from working out weighs more than the fat you are loosing. Also diet is 80% of the battle. Keep eating complex carbs... baked or sweet potatoes, brocolli, whole grain rice and good clean protein. They will keep you fuller longer. And don't come down too hard if you have a cheat meal. One a week will keep you going and allow you something to look forward to. You might want to buy the bood Body for Life. It's full of good stuff for beginners to earn about eating healthy and exercising. I'm proud of you and keep up the good work.

I have the same problem. Started Weight Watchers on Jan 17 and on Mar 2 had lost 18 pounds.  Haven't dropped a pound since then. Have not cheated and even stepped up the aerobic exercising with no luck.
Is there really a plateau that you hit. I need to lose another 25 pounds.

Hi

First of all congrats on your intitial weight loss.  so many quit before they ever reach what you did.

I would look at the diet as well.  have you tried eating several small meals a day.  The body is like a furnace, it needs fuel to run all day.

I would also change up the exercise because our bodies get used to exercise so quickly that we need to keep it guessing.  I struggle with my weight as well and I do know the frustration, it's frustrating at any point.  I lost 45 pounds 8 years ago and then had two kids and have been working on the same 15 pounds for about 5 years.  It's frustrating but forums like this really keep your spirits up.

Keep up the good work.  check out fittv.com

How low is your caloric intake?  As difficult as it is to accept (and you may already know this), a severely reduced caloric intake is interpeted by the body as a state of famine.  Therefore, the metabolism will slow in order to conserve fat stores.  However, if you eat a little something every three hours, you will stimulate the metabolism.  An example might include an apple and piece of cheese.  Of course, at some point, there is going to be a weight plateau that every trick in the book won't be able to break.  Heredity is a very strong thing.
