Can eating too much apples make you gain weight?

I've been on a low fat diet for a little while and I was wondering if eating too much apples or any other fruit can make you gain weight? I mostly eat fruit, mainly apples all the time. I'm starting to gain weight even though I'm exercising everyday. I gained about 2-3 pounds when I should be losing. It's really upsetting me very badly!!! I'm WAY overweight and when I try to do the right things to lose weight I only lose down to a certain point then I start gaining back up. I eat alot of apples throughout the day and was wondering could this be the cause for the 2-3 pound weight gain? PLEASE HELP! I need advice!

I agree that fruit has a lot of sugar in it, which, if not used (exercise) can/will turn to fat.

You need a healthy mix of lean protein, low/no fat dairy, whole grains and LOTS of veggies for vitamins, fiber, complex carbs........ veggies are actually healthier than fruit because they don't have the high sugar content.

I actually believe that you need to limit your fruit intake to 1-2 servings/day in order to reduce the sugar content.  That said, if you are going to eat fruit, apples are one of the best because of their fiber content - make sure you eat the peeling as well because, as with most fruits/veggies, the majority of the vitamins/minerals is in or just under the skin.......

Go for the veggies.........

Apples and other fruits do have sugar in them. Low fat diets tend to be high in sugar, which is just as likely to make you gain weight.

Are you getting enough protein? You should still be eating lean meats, beans, nuts, and fish, plus vegetables and fruits. Also, you need carbs, like the kind you'd get from whole wheat bread. You need a proper balance of foods, otherwise your body is malnourished, which can lead to weight gain.

Keep up with the fruits, but consider how much sugar they have in them. Some fruits are high in calories, but better fruit than cookies or junk food.  :)

Consider eating smaller meals but snacking throughout the day. Don't go hungry, and never deprive yourself of an entire food group. Eating healthy should feel good. You shouldn't feel like you're depriving yourself too much.

And lastly, don't obsess over the scale. Measure how you feel, how you look, and how your clothes fit. I know too many of us go crazy when we gain weight, but losing weight for good is a lot of little steps forward and little steps back. Consider water retention, bloating (which the excess of apples may cause), and other factors which may lead to a temporary weight gain.

Another slight possibility is that you have an intolerance for apples. Try trading them out for another fruit for a few days and see if anything improves.
