While those kinds of diets may be a help to get started (I've never tried one), they are not something you can change to as a "way of life" because you won't stay on them forever.
Why not take the $ spent on those meals, then go to the grocery store and stock up on lots of fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, low/no fat dairy and whole grains, like bread, pasta, etc. Figure out what a reasonable "portion" is - such as a serving of meat should be about the size of a deck of playing cards, etc - and come up with your own healthy diet, using foods that you actually like. For instance, I love pasta and rice - I opt for whole grain pasta and brown rice, so that allows me to still incorporate them into my meal planning.
In addition, there are a lot of prepared meals in the freezer section that are quite tasty and can easily be added to any regiment to save having to cook. You can also cook bigger batches of things and freeze them in portion sized container, then when you are ready to eat, just pop something into the microwave and you're done.
If you eat out a lot, opt for a salad and grilled meat, etc. For something quick and/or on the go, you can opt for a protein drink or bar.
Good luck.
I tried Nutrisystem, followed the instuctions....and lost nothing, like not even one single pound. two weeks into the program. With no weight lose and feeling exhausted from the poor nutrional value in those meals, And no longer able to stomach the chicken dishes in the package, I would try to choke them down (and mind you im not a fussy person) i phone nutrisystem and they tried to tell me that sometimes this happens stick with it...ugh,,,,it was no worth the horrible food (they said they hadnt had any complaints and tried to make me feel like the only one) I sent the food back and got a full refund! Lost zero weight, felt like ****, and threw up more than when i was pregnant!

Thank you for posting your question and for sharing your experience.
While I have not been on the NuLean, I have been on Nutrisystem before. It was back when dietary fats were restricted to practically nothing and many of us had our gallbladders get sluggish, develop stones and had to have surgery.
Personally, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig and others provide us with portion controlled food to help us get started on our journey to health. Additionally, they should have some counselors that can help us learn some better choices and guide us with suggestions and options.
With all due respect, and the utmost heartfelt concern, the power to change our lives is in the choices we make. And, the good news is ... you're making some really good choices! Just look at you ... you have joined MedHelp, posted a question and are continuing to search for healthier options.
Do hope you will consider posting more questions, sharing your ideas and concerns and join us on this path to a healthier lifestyle. The Food Diary, the weight and exercise trackers provide us with the keys to view and study what works and what doesn't and to learn from it. The mood tracker helps us identify a correlation with our emotions and food .. and from there we can learn to make better choices.
This members here have a vast knowledge and are committed to continuing their journeys to healthier lifestyles .. sure hope you will join us!!!
