While it's true that coconut oil is mostly saturated fat, it's a different type of saturated fat and it's not true that it's "extremely deleterious" to your health. Kristi is right; you don't need very much. Because of the calories contained in ALL fats, common sense tells us to limit the amount of fats we consume, from all sources, on a daily basis. Coconut oil can be used just like any other oil for cooking or frying, in smoothies, shakes or coffee.
I just use it to cook eggs, fish, veggies on a pan/grill pan. You dont need a lot. Like for 2-3 scrambled eggs I use a teaspoon but them when I am using my double burner grill pan for fish amd veggies I use about 2 tablespoons or a little less.
Believe it or not you guys, there is no legitimate or credible scientific evidence that coconut oil has all these benefits. In fact coconut oil is 90% saturated fat, which is extremely deleterious to your heart and blood vessels. That's why they often tell healthy adults not to consume more than 10% of calories in the form of saturated fat.
I use it in spaghetti sauce. Just add it when you are heating the sauce in. You won't even taste it. I do this also when cooking mexican or any kind of ground beef/turkey. You can also just add it to smoothies, or just any type of sauce.
