instead of fruit juice get the crystal lights u can put in ur water
Some fat is good for you and will actually make you feel more satisfied. Try adding "good" fats, such as olive oil, avocados, nuts, seeds, etc.
If you want a snack with fat in it, grab a handful of nuts (preferably unsalted or lightly salted, since salt can cause fluid retention) or seeds. Sunflower or pumpkin seeds are really good for you. For an evening snack, try an apple with a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. You quell the craving for sweets or "crunchies" with the apple and the craving for fat with the peanut butter. You can also do the peanut butter on celery, pears, etc. Be sure to limit the peanut butter, since it has a LOT of fat, but it's also got protein, which along with the fat, will help you feel more satisfied.
Chips are my downfall, as well, because they give me that satisfying crunch and we do have them in the house, because my husband is tall and thin and can eat whatever he wants. Grrrr....... Same goes for the chips, though - grab some nuts or seeds. Keep celery and raw carrots on hand to reach for.
You can also try a small square of dark chocolate; the more cocoa the better.
I agree that you should give up soda; also limit the fruit juice, because even though it's "natural", there's still a lot of sugar and it spikes your blood sugar, but doesn't satisfy very long. Opt for whole fruit, preferably fresh or frozen, because of the added fiber you get that will also help keep you fuller longer.
Hello brookbxo,
I just read your post. I don't know if you can do this, but try drinking no soft drinks whatsoever. Soft drinks, any kind, are not good for your intestines.
Even switching from regular pop to diet pop will not solve your problem
because all diet pops, as far as I know, have aspertame as one of its main
ingredients. Aspertame is actually a chemical and a dangerous one at that.
I googled Aspertame one day. I was shocked to learn that Aspartame has
wood alcohol as part of it's ingredients, which is actually a poison. You say
you have bad cravings for fatty foods. My husband and I are trying to watch
what we eat too. We've given up all soft drinks. All we drink is coffee, tea,
water and fruit juices. That's it. Give up pop. It's not that hard really.
As far as the craving for fatty foods, try substituting this craving with fresh
or canned fruit. We don't keep any fatty foods in our house anymore.
No chips, cheesies, donuts, or cookies are in our cupboards. We don't
even eat muffins as there is hidden fat in muffins too. Potato chips are
my weakness. I sometimes have a small bag of potato chips maybe once
or twice a month. That satisifies my craving for chips. Hopefully you find
these suggestions helpful. Once you start eating more fruit, I find I start
craving fruit. You basically just have to change your eating habits. Good luck.
I'm right there with you!! I'll eat fine all day then I feel like I need to binge at night!! Sugar, chocolate etc. are my down fall! I've been trying to change one thing at a time so it doesn't overwhelm me. Try switching from regular soft drinks to diet, or when you want to deep fry something, try baking it.. Small changes like that, I'm hoping mine will add up!!
