Getting old, sick and fat...help!

I'm depressed, At 5'3" I weigh 175, ten lbs more than last year and not eating any more than last year. I'm 55 yo. It is becoming so hard to lose weight, I would have to live on salads alone and that is not my idea of living life. I do love food to a degree, I'm not a food addict though. I find it hard to exercise, I have fibromyalgia, arthritis and back problems, I'm also a borderline diabetic, but I find that if I go for too long without food (5-6 hrs) I get hypoglycemic as well!   I'm also on beta blockers which I need for panic attacks and irreg. heartbeat.. I can't get my heart rate up past 100 (unless I'm having a panic attack) on the tredmill. When I  had to take a stress test I needed a chemical stress test to raise my heart rate up - it went up to 135 with atropine and dubutamine. So aerobic work outs won't work with me. I'm also too darn tired and achy all the time. If I walk around the block I have to lay down to rest.  I feel like throwing in the towel sometimes. Please don't tell me to take this and that vitamen, everyone is selling something these days. Besides ten rx drugs,  I take mega vitamens, sublingual B-12, hi fiber cereal, Calcium/magnesium, omega-3 oils, I have tried so many things and still feel awful. I do need to lose 30-40 lbs, but 10 lbs to start would be nice.

Do it slowly so you won't lose your breath. That's what I meant. Sorry.

I'm not a doctor. I will like to say that I used to weigh 300 pounds. I began walking around the block a few times and began to lose weight. The only thing that I can tell you is to walk. Do it slowly so you won't lose your weight. Have a note book handy. You should try walking 3 times or 4 a week. Keep track of the date the time and how many times around the block you're walking it. Write the numbers from 1 through 4 just to begin with. Then as the weeks go by you will begin to see that you can walk a few more times around the block. And this is what you call endurance. You will begin to see a change in your body and your body will begin to change. Dress in your usual clothes. Don't diet. Try walking. It will change your body. Don't walk fast. If you want you can take along a walkman with you or a small radio so you can listen to some music along the way. Depending on how you're feeling. Just walk. Before you know it you will have the motivation to keep going. Good luck. Try it. I did and it works. Babies do and they lose fat quick. So can you. It's as natural as breathing.Norma
